Working with an automated conveyor belt system is efficient and safe – provided you follow the safety instructions. So what safety aspects do you need to bear in mind?

Basic rules for the user

  • Everyone should take responsibility for their own safety.
  • Normally speaking, the people present at the nursery are people who work there or are there for professional reasons. Children and pets should not be allowed near an operational SmartFlo Drive without strict supervision.
  • Everyone who works at the nursery will have been alerted to the automatic operation of the SmartFlo system and the dangers associated with it.
  • Visitors should also be informed about these dangers in advance.

Starting up and restarting SmartFlo

  • Before connecting the SmartFlo Drive to the mains power, check that the connector is clean and dry.
  • Check the cables for damage, before connecting the SmartFlo Drive. If there is any damage, do not use the SmartFlo Drive and contact WPS to arrange a repair.
  • Make sure both the user and the SmartFlo Drive are dry and are not in contact with water.
  • The SmartFlo Drive should be upright and there should be a clearance of at least 15 centimetres around all sides.

During use

  • In an emergency, stop the system by pressing the emergency stop button.
  • Watch out for rotating parts on the conveyor belts. Keep fingers and other body parts well away from rotating parts and take care with loose clothing and hair as these can become trapped.
  • The SmartFlo Drive should be installed upright in an open space with good ventilation.

During maintenance

  • Always switch the system off before carrying out maintenance on it. Disconnect the drive from the mains power and inform all concerned.
  • When you switch the system on, make sure there are no persons in the vicinity of the belt.
